How much does it cost to replace a fuse box?

The board itself is a modest part of the price; the day's work is the point. A consumer unit change legally requires the new board to protect circuits that have been verified, so every circuit gets tested, and pre-existing faults get found. That testing is why the job takes most of a day and why the certificate at the end means something.
Inside the range: circuit count (a six-way flat board sits low, a fourteen-way house board high), the state of the tails and bonding (upgrading main bonding to gas and water adds a modest sum and is non-negotiable when needed), and location awkwardness.
Specification is where quotes diverge invisibly: RCBOs per circuit (one fault trips one circuit) versus shared RCDs (one fault blacks out half the house) is the big one; surge protection as standard versus extra is the other.
