Because the dimmer predates the bulbs. Old leading-edge dimmers were designed for 60W of hot wire and cannot regulate a 6W LED driver; the result is flicker, buzzing, or LEDs that will not dim below half. The fix is a trailing-edge dimmer matched to the load, and where a room's LEDs still misbehave, checking the minimum-load rating against what is actually fitted. It is a small, satisfying job and one of our most common visits.

Bathrooms are divided into zones: above the bath or in the shower needs IP65-rated fittings, the surrounding zone needs IP44, and everything must be RCD-protected. Fittings must be selected for their zone, not chosen from a catalogue for looks alone; plenty of what we replace was never bathroom-rated at all.
